WW2 German K98 Bayonet, Scabbard & Frog. Rare Berg Maker. Matching Serial Nos
World War 2 German Bayonet and scabbard with matching serial numbers. Includes genuine period frog (same year, 1940) with makers mark. MAKER: Berg & Co. Waffenant No: WaA 253. (Bayonet and Scabbard): 1674 over b. Bayonet is in fair condition. It’s not damaged or rusted or pitted. The bayonet exhibits what happens when a K98 sits in the steel scabbard to long in damp conditions. There are 3 internal leaf springs in the scabbard. The bluing on the bayonet reacts to the steel leaf springs over time through galvanic action. Thus, the three rings of damaged bluing on each side of the bayonet correspond to locations where it contacted the leaf spring. Scabbard is in very good condition. No dents, rust or damage. Bluing has been refreshed on the scabbard. Frog is in excellent condition. The Maker’s Name (Joseph Lechner) and year (1940) are stamped on the belt loop.
