We have made no attempts to clean this item. It contains small amounts of dust & dirt from where it was found among other army war items. Fully functional and works perfectly. Locking spring mechanism is in great shape. Belt attachment swivels and works perfect without any bending or damage to the metal. Very nice artifact from the war. This M 1 Garand bayonet is a rare find for collectors of militaria. Made by American Fork Hoe, it was used during World War II and is an original piece.
