WWII US M1 CARBINE BAYONET W/M8A1 SCABBARD. NEAR MINT ESTATE ITEM. This WWII Era US M1 Carbine bayonet belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This blade was on display with some US combat field gear. This particular bayonet was manufactured by Utica Cutlery and is so marked to the underside of the guard (see photos). The blade shows minimal if any use/wear and retains approximately 98% of it’s original light gray parkerized finish with some small areas of minor thinning towards the blade tip (see photos). It appears to have issue sharpening only and still has a relatively sharp edge now (see photos). Pommel and crossguard have most all of the original finish remaining and there is a small bit of black paint to the pommel top (see photos). The leather washer style grip is a dark brown, is excellent overall and is without issues or losses (see photos). The crossguard is tight & doesn’t wobble and pommel top is tight as well (see photos). The scabbard is complete/intact and solid overall (see photos). Most all of the original paint remains to the body and there is a Victory Plastics marking to the reverse body (see photos). Upper metal fitting is marked to the front M8A1 – B. And is starting to lightly brown (see photos). The web upper is clean/solid/intact with a belt hook to the top and the small retaining strap is present with a working snap (see photos). This is an original WWII era US M1 carbine bayonet in near mint overall condition. The light gray parkerized blade is excellent and the leather handle is original/complete/intact. The original issue scabbard shows very light use/wear and remains excellent overall. Guaranteed original/authentic the bayonet makes an excellent presentation.
