US M1873 Bayonet measuring 21″ overall with a blade length of 18″. Fine Socket collar and screw. Fine condition scabbard with brass belt hook, see photos.
Original finish black phosphate or parkerized blade Model 1905 bayonet for the Springfield Model 1903 rifle. Would also work on the Rock Island 1903, the Remington and Smith Corona 03a3 and the M1 Garand. Excellent blade is mostly black with some loss at the tip. The hilt retains its original dark parkerizing with little if any rust with some loss on the guard which has a minor bend, but does not affect its use. Left walnut grip is cracked and there is a few small shallow indentations. The khaki web M1910 scabbard has a leather tip which is solid but does have a couple minor cuts on the surface. The stitching on the scabbard is solid. The back has a faint ink mark which is probably BOYT 41. See photos for details.
WWI US ARMY M1905 M1903 SPRINGFIELD WINCHESTER RIFLE BAYONET & CARRY SCABBARD. The M-1905 Bayonet was adopted by the US military as a knife bayonet for the Model 1903 Rifle after it was determined necessary for the “modern” trench warfare of the early 1900s. Once the bayonet was officially adopted, production began at both the Springfield Armory and the Rock Island Arsenal. The Rock Island Arsenal produced just under 1/2 million total bayonets and this low run means originals are scarce today. Ours replicates an original issue 1906 (first year of production for RIA) of the famed bayonet expertly. The early bayonets had bright blades and blued hilts and were marked on the ricasso “RIA 1906″, which our replica faithfully shows. The M-1905 Bayonet is the core of many bayonet collections and are highly sought after, but they are extremely scarce today. Replicated using an original for authenticity and employing the same materials, this is a collector grade reproduction. Includes early spec scabbard of wood covered in canvas with metal throat and standard canvas Krag-style hanger.
This 1903 Springfield bayonet with a web scabbard is a piece of history from the WW I (1914-18) era. The blade is dated 1918 and features a flaming bomb insignia. This original piece of militaria is from the United States and is perfect for collectors of edged weapons. The bayonet and scabbard are in good condition and will make a great addition to any collection. Please refer to the photos for a better idea of the item’s quality.
