Original WWI German Bayonet SG84/98aA old pattern which is a modified 71/84 bayonet, these arsenal modified bayonets were made by rehilting the 71/84 model so it would fit the new Gew98 and the Kar98AZ. Blade model with short fullers, blade with crown Fraktur proof on the spine as well as Crown W 88, this bayonet is scarce. The left ricosso is marked Alex Coppel Solingen. Complete with a Spanish leather scabbard with steel mounts which is just like the German scabbard except with softer leather. The crossguard is unit marked E. 2.115 which is for an Eisenbahn (Railway) battalion 2nd Company weapin # 115. The press stud functions perfectly. Overall condition is VG- for a German WWI bayonet. WWI German Model 1898 Butcher Bayonet w/Scabbard Turkish Modified. WWI German Model 1898 Butcher Bayonet w/Scabbard- Turkish Modified. This is an ersatz bayonet. Overall length is now 15″ & blade length now 9.75″. Reduced down from a model 1898 German butcher bayonet. There are two crown marks on the blade spine along with a’13’. The blade is marked’waffenfabrik mauser A.’on one side only. The pommel has a 4 digit serial number, probably Turkish. Blade is still shiny with no rust but well worn. Lots of dents on flash guard. The wood grips are ok, no cracks but theres couple gouges near rivet screws. Push button works nicely. Scabbard has dents on both sides; & found no markings. The throat screw looks like a replacement. This is a nice example of 100+ year old modified bayonet. As always, carefully study our photos of exact item. See our other items.
