Reproduction Civil War US Remington Percussion Musket Rifle M1862 Yataghan Sword Bayonet & Brass / Leather Scabbard. Offered here is a Reproduction US Civil War Remington percussion rifle M1862 Yataghan sword bayonet. This is NOT original. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good – Very Good Plus condition. The press catch is functional with average spring tension. The guard is securely fastened to the tang. Both the brass guard and the grip are securely fastened to the tang. They have scattered impact marks, scrapes and draglines. The grooves on the grip are mostly distinct. The brass has started to turn to a darker tarnished color. The blade edge has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory cutting edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. The finish is in the white. There is a layer of dried cosmoline throughout. There are no visible markings which is partially why we think this is a reproduction. The scabbard is in Poor – Fair condition. It is missing its chape and part of the leather body. The frog stud is securely attached to the locket, but it wiggles a little bit, it also has been compressed inward. The bayonet can still go in and out of the scabbard. The brass locket has light scrapes and impact marks. The finish has started to turn to a darker tarnished color. The leather body has started to dry out. There are no rips or tears and the stitching is sewn tightly. There are some light compressions and wrinkles. Part of the bottom leather is missing and the chape is missing too so the tip of the bayonet sticks out. There are no visible markings. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Civil War Remington 1862 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. It will be a good holding blade until you can get an original piece. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards. Please see our photographs for a better understanding of the contents and its condition.
