World War 2 German Bayonet and scabbard with matching serial numbers. Includes genuine period frog (same year, 1940) with makers mark. MAKER: Berg & Co. Waffenant No: WaA 883. (Bayonet and Scabbard): 8660 over a. Bayonet is in outstanding condition. Original bluing is just now starting to wear through. It’s not damaged or rusted or pitted. Press pin is a bit rugged, but functions perfectly. There is a name “Arthur Piedmont” engraved on the pommel. Piedmont on the battlefield. I’d be more inclined to think some owner of this bayonet 50 years ago thought it would be a good idea to etch his name on it. Anyway, it’s not an eyesore. Scabbard is in very good condition. No dents, rust or damage. Bluing has been refreshed on the scabbard. Frog is in excellent condition. No markings are discernible. The frog stud hole has some stress cracks around it, but remains intact.
