German K98 Miniature Bayonet Scabbard Letter Opener Souvenir 30s. # The law prohibits the sale to anyone under the age of 18. For your consideration, you are viewing a piece of Military History, this is a miniature souvenir version of the KS98 Dress Walking Out Bayonet. This is an interesting and scarce pre-WW2 patriotic souvenir letter opener desk piece made in the mid-30s during the build-up to WW2 and was a very popular souvenir brought by travellers during the 1936 German Olympics. These have not survived in as great numbers as the full-size bayonets. The 140mm single-edged steel blade has a thin single fuller on each side and a thin flat spine. The blade terminates in a spear point, The hilt has a flattened bird’s head pommel with a rear-facing quillon, black wooden checkered grips complete with its rolled steel scabbard with a high black gloss finish, that has no frog button and an inner leather lining. # This has NO maker marks. If this is not for you I also have other unusual Bayonets and Militaria Finds in my shop. This mini bayonet letter opener is from the mid-30s, and it is in very good condition for its age. The grips are in excellent condition with no missing pieces, no indents or marks and fit tightly to the tang. The 14cm blade has no stains and no pitting. The edge is not sharp and has no dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a polished finish with some scuff wear and an aged patina. The scabbard is in excellent condition and the knife sheathes and draws smoothly and fits tightly together with the bayonet.
