The Type 30 bayonet is a single-edged sword bayonet, and was produced from 1920 until 1945 and has a long history in Japan and was used in front-line from the Russo-Japanese War to the end of WW2. These were also used in the invasion of China, Malaya, and the Philippines. This has the stacked cannonballs stamp manufactured by Kokura Arsenal. Designed for the Imperial Japanese Army for use on the 6.5 mm. Type 38 rifle, 6.5 mm. Type I (Carcano) Rifle, and 7.7 mm. This Japanese bayonet also fits on the older 6.5 mm. Type 30 rifle, whose designation was given to these bayonets. The Arisaka rifle is a family of Japanese military bolt-action service rifles that have been in production and use since 1897, the Arisaka replaced the Murata rifle family and was used up until the end of World War II in 1945. The Arisaka rifles are named for Colonel Nariakira Arisaka, who headed a commission during the 1890s and developed a new rifle to replace the earlier models such as the Murata. It has a birds-head flat pommel and a 15.5-inch bright polished single-edge fuller blade. The contoured wood grips are set with 2 screws, The replica scabbard is a later pattern with a tubular end (instead of a ball tip). The grips are in fair condition but are significantly worn down with some missing pieces, and lots of indents and marks that have worn smooth and fit tightly to the tang, the release/lock button is worn and a little loose, but is still in working order. The 39.3 cm blade has a worn-blued finish with scattered black spot stains and pitting. The edge is sharp and has multiple dings. The remaining metal on the cross-guards, pommel and mortise has a polished finish with scattered black spot stains and pitting, some scuff and indent marks and an aged patina. The Replica scabbard is in very good condition with no dents, the frog’s leather is thick and supple, it has some stain and grime, but no damage, all the stitching is tight and unbroken, and the brass buckle is firmly fixed and fits tightly together with the bayonet.
