WWII Czech Made Romanian Vz-23 Rifle Vz-24 Knife CM Marked Bayonet & Scabbard

Brno Romanian Contract (CM Marked) Vz-23 and Vz-24 Rifle Vz-24 Knife Bayonet and Metal Scabbard. Offered here is a WWII era Czech made Romanian Contract. Bayonet for a Czech Vz-23 / Vz-24 rifles. These were used by the Czech Army and exported to several countries. Modified bayonets were used by Germany during WWII. These were made by Ceskoslovenska zbrojovka a. The earlier version Vz-23 bayonets were too long so they shortened it four inches. In 1940 Germany ordered 150,000 rifles and bayonets. There were blued, prior and post bayonets were in the white. The blade and spine are reversed – the blade edge is on the top. This was sent to Romania and proof marked with “CM” which represents Comisia Militara – (the Romanian arms acceptance commission). Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good – Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. The finish is in the white. The screw escutcheons securely fasten the two wood grip panels. They have light oxidation with strong slots. The grip panels have compressions, draglines, scrapes and a large 1 chip on the rear left panel. The rest of the wood has darkened with age. There are nicks and dings on the. Blade edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. The blade finish is in the white. There is a light layer of oil. The left ricasso is marked “Z” within a circle and the bottom of the tang is marked with “CM”. The metal scabbard is in Good – Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The frog stud is securely attached. There are a couple small spots of blued finish between the frog stud and the mouth, but the rest of the body is in the white. The scabbard frog is marked “CSZ / E” next to a Lion and the number is not legible. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Czech WWII era rifle, or a bayonet collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
