This is an original WW2 German dress bayonet and scabbard made by E. The piece is a beautiful addition to any militaria collection, with its intricate design and historical significance. The item is a great find for those interested in World War II memorabilia and edged weapons. The bayonet is original and has not gone through any restoration process, making it an authentic piece. Horster, is well-known for producing high-quality bayonets during the war. This piece is a great addition to anyone’s collection, and it’s a great conversation starter. The scabbard has some heavy dings and dents, and some slight corrosion, definitely some heavy wear. Frog is dry at the loop, yet the body of the frog is still semi supple, and all of the rivets are still attached. The blade is fairly shiny and has some scratches, look at the photos for those. The spacer is still there but there is a space where it has split, and it feels a little dry. The grip panels are complete with a crack on the left panel. It’s kind of difficult to see, and there is no looseness or wiggling- there seems to be some of the panel either shrunk, or is missing near the Quillian on the left grip. The Quillion and the pommel looks like they are starting to lose some of its nickeling, and it is showing wear and patina.
