Offered is an original World War One production United States Military issue bayonet, together with its original scabbard, manufactured for use with the U. M-1917 Enfield rifle, as well as for the combat shotguns (trench guns) used both in World War One and World War Two. This bayonet is the Model of 1917 bayonet and was manufactured by Remington Arms. It is 1917 dated. The other side of the ricasso is US marked, as well as proofed with both an eagle head and a flaming bomb. This bayonet is offered as pictured with its factory blade and tip, having never been sharpened after leaving the factory. The blade shows some spotting but no rust and no dings. The grips are original and unmolested, and are free from cracks, chips, or repairs. The lock/release button functions as it should. This bayonet is offered together with its original scabbard, which presents in superb condition. This scabbard is the quite scarce 1st pattern scabbard and was manufactured by G&K (Grafton and Knight) in 1917 and is so marked.
